Background Check Information
Beginning 2009 ASA Region

The following questions

subject to the background check.
-

a background check for my job or another officiating
assignment/group/city. Will that substitute for this
background check?
No, all adult umpires in Region 14 must undergo an ASA
Background check

What are the
background checks looking for?

Is there an
appeals process?
Yes, if this background check results in your disqualification as an
umpire, volunteer, or coach, you may appeal the results as outlined
under Article 505 of the ASA Code. The ASA Code can be found on line
at www.softball.org/about/pdf/asa_code.pdf.
You may appeal directly to Matt Pfeifer, GSJSA Commissioner. He will
evaluate an appeal on a case by case basis. Certain factors,
including whether you will only be working adult league ball, may be
considered.
-
How much does this
cost.

registration fee to GSJUA. The fee is currently $4.50.
Minors do not get a background check they do not pay that fee.
