Chuck Frye began his involvement in youth sports in 1996 when he began working as a field medic (EMT) and trainer for youth and high school football.  Chuck worked as a trainer and Assistant Coach for 7 years.  Chuck began softball in 2001 coaching for Valley Springs Softball League.  He began umpiring in 2002 and began umpiring with ASA in 2003.  In umpiring, he has found his true passion, often telling his employer "You know this job gets in the way of my career as an umpire."

Chuck became Assistant UIC to Jerry Lightfoot in Motherlode in 2005.  Jerry retired at the end of 2007 and Chuck Frye took over as Umpire in Chief for Motherlode, which covers Amador and Calaveras counties.  Chuck was honored to work his first national in 2008.

Chuck is a PERL programmer and the webmaster for GSJUA and designed an umpire management program called
The Ump Assigner in use by the GSJUA.

Chuck is a Staff Sergeant with the California National Guard Small Arms Training Team (SATT) and serves as a weapons instructor and the Personnel NCO.

His goal is to earn his National Indicator Fraternity and to work the 18 Gold National Championships.
